I agree 100% with your take on Lindsey Jacobellis... showboating is, by everything I've seen, integral to snowboarding. And she had the guts to admit it too.
If they still had it, I'd bet her ending would replace the ski jumper on the Wide World of Sport opening. It'll still be in her face for years and I hope she can ignore it. Seems to have her head screwed on right to me, so I think she'll be OK.

>Two peas from entirely different pods, IMO. Lindsey Jacobellis hotdogged it at the end of a sure gold medal run, a showboat move in a showboat sport. She's 20 and let's not forget she had the race won, which Bode never had at any moment. She knows she messed up. Let's give her a break. I am far less willing to give Bode Miller a break, a man who is utterly squandering his talent and has the nerve to say it's no big deal. He showed up in Turin overweight and out of shape, but nonetheless awash in publicity and endorsement deals. Bob Costas hit the nail on the head in his commentary at the end of the Saturday night broadcast, after Bode's last flameout and "I have no regrets" interview with Tom Brokaw. Costas said if you don't give your best effort and achieve at least occasional success, and say it doesn't matter to you, pretty soon it doesn't matter to the rest of us, either. Touche.

>>I can think of a couple of U.S. olympic athletes who could learn from her example! Now she will reap the benefits and Bode Miller and Lyndsay Jacobellis will come back disappointed to say the least.

>>>It simply blows my mind that should could train for that many distances. Also how she could have that much energy to complete in the many trails and races. The coolest thing is that she seems genuinely humble. One of the speed records she set at the Olympics was the men's record only 12 years ago.

>>>>She was absolutely amazing.

>>>>>Cindy Klassen of Canada has won 5 medals in the Winter Olympics, which is the most for any Canadian Olympian summer or winter. She is also the first Canadian to hold 6 career Olympic medals. She played on national youth hockey team, but when she wasn't selected for the 1998 Olympics she switched to speed skating. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cindy_Klassen
