>>>I need to know if anyone has any experience with sending email directly from VFP 5.0a. My client has ccMail running. I need to attach a VFP report. Not just text, this will be a report form with boxes and shading. Can this even be done ????? I have heard of idsmail [sp ?], but from what I know you can only send text or a text file attachment.

>We're working on an app like this. I tried the above approach and found that the file that is created, a PRN file, looks like gobblygook to a text reader like wordpad and windows did not have an association for it. I'll bet it would print out right if someone dragged it to the printer, but we want our users to double click and see the document, just like in Netscape.
>We are using a 3rd party product by Mabry that gives email functionality to VFP. I had a little trouble learning how to use it, but got lots of help here and we are able to parse out attachments from email, doubleclick and view them from within fox....we are still working out the details on how to take a beautiful report and turn it into something the email recipient can see without fox, a printer, or a fax machine. I'm guessing it's another 3rd party library.

When you save a printer's output to a file, the file contains escape codes and binary data that the printer uses to print a page. I beleave what Jace asked for was an existing application that generates a report. What you are recomending, or attempting to do, may be accomplished by generating the report as in HTML format, which means that if there are any pictures (bmp for vfp), you need to have a gif or jpg equivilant of it. For a plain html report, there are a few vcx's in the download section of UT that give you that capability.
