Gary Hart and John Dean were not sacrificed, they shot themselves in the feet. And if the media helped Bill Clinton in 1992, it was the last time they ever did so. A lot of them liked him but they bent over so far backwards to prove they were unbiased, they did him a lot more harm than good.
