I doubt a third party candidate will be elected President in my lifetime. George Wallace and John Anderson ran serious candidacies and got about 15% of the vote. Ross Perot got around 30%, the high point to date if I am not mistaken. Since then, nothing. We are seriously entrenched in the two party system, as suboptimal as it is.
