Not at all. My dad served 2 years in Germany though during the early part of Vietnam. Talk about a lucky assignment. My brother was in the Navy and I had an Uncle who was a Navy Frog. Now I have two cousins in the Army. We are the only ones in a huge family though. My mom was one of nine kids and each of them had at least 6 kids and now all of my cousins have kids.... It adds up. :o)

>>It is hard to believe, but when my siblings were growing up there were teachers who (in the 60s) still wanted to force them use the right hand. My parents went to the school and stopped that immediately. In my family it goes left, right, left, right, left from oldest to youngest.

>>>>>>
>>>>>>So if you went into the Wal-Mart of the day the peasants' clothes would have all had the same fastening for men and women?
>>>>>
>>>>>Probably not. If clothing for the wealthy was made with the buttons on a certain side, then that was probably considered the norm.

>>>>>>
>>>>>>Why would it be easier whichever hands the lady's maids used? Women today have no problem fastening buttons with their left hands
>>>>>

>>>>I was in kindergarten in Catholic School in 1947. My friend Carol Harney was left handed. When Carol used her left hand Sister Mary Saint Stanislaus would hit the back of Carol's hand with an 18” ruler and yell, “The left hand is the hand of the devil”! The good old days!
>>>
>>>My mother went through the same thing. She had the back of her left hand rapped a number of times. But in the long run, she showed 'em. She's now ambidextrous. Of course, she's also 87, so in the end, she's not all that dextrous anymore whatever the hand.
