A post you might find interesting at http://firedoglake.blogspot.com. You have to scroll down to "Its All About the Lying". It touches on Katrina, DPWord, Iraq civil war, WMDs, oil will pay for war, nuke materials from Niger, shooting people in the face, no spying w/o warrant. There's some kind of pattern emerging....

>And just in case you're not 100% sure of the reality challenged part, there's always the Katrina white house video.

>>I think we'll see BushCo retire the phrase "we'll stand down when the Iraqis stand up". With the Pentagon just now coming out and saying that there are now ZERO battalions that can fight on there own, that "stand down stand up" phrase paints the admin as being severely reality challenged... or that if we to really adhere to that phrase... we'll be over there for a couple of decades (which wont happen).

>>>Do you really think that's going to happen? I don't. The events of the past week demonstrated that pretty clearly. The alleged government and security forces stood by passively after the mosque bombing and retributions, sometimes actually participating in the retributions. If we pull out Iraq will quickly become Afghanistan on a larger scale, ruled by warlords. The Shiites and Sunnis are not going to suddenly become all chummy just because the U.S. is gone.

>>>>I suppose I should clarify - outsiders being the foreign Jihadists. Once we leave, if left to their own devices, the Iraqis would etc. In no way would I advocate pulling out until their new government and security forces can stand on their own feet.

>>>>>Here we disagree. We could leave tomorrow and Iraq would become more chaotic, not less.
>>
>>>>>>That's your opinion. Mine is not so gloomy. I think that, if left to their own devices, the Iraqis would make an honest attempt at a unified government. But outsiders aren't going to give them the chance.
