I would post some code, but I have yet to write a single line. Let me explain further.

The videos are free and begin with the very basics. In lesson # 9 or 10, there is a simple example of creating a DataSource and a DataConnection. In this same lesson, there is the illustration of dragging the data table to the form which generates the Labels and TextBoxes for every field in the table. Once dropped, the video instructor clicks the Run button in the toolbar then scrolls through the data table, displaying the data that is bound to the textboxes.

In the real world, I would not do this. But for training purposes, I am following the video, then reviewing the controls to see what properties and events were created.

My project and my data reside on a network drive. If I run the program using the network drives, it fails with the permissions problem. Out of curiousity, I copied the project and data to my local drive and the program works without a hitch.

As I mentioned in my original post, I am a long time veteran of Foxpro. What I'm used to doing is looking for and opening my data tables using a method called from the LOAD EVENT.

If there is a preferred way of opening a data connection/data tables in VB.NET, then I would appreciate that information. In the mean time, I'll keep reading, watching, and testing.
