There are no gators in the ocean. They stay in the rivers and the Everglades.
We are talking diving in the Keys. All you get are nurse sharks (harmless) and barracudas (they are Ok if you don't bother tthem or try to hand-feed them - I've seen that done). There are also Moray Eels which are peaceful and shy. Just don't bother them.
