>In my BOL (SQL 2005) I see IdleConnectionTimeout, IdleOrphanSessionTimeout, MaxIdleSessionTimeout, MinIdleSessionTimeout properties. Does this mean the DBA can set a time that the connection in Evan's app would be closed? Sounds like your advice to check the connection and reconnect as necessary before running a query is a good one.

I was thinking more of a DBA forcing connections closed for backups or other DB maintenance tasks. And then there's my favorite, when some moron with a backhoe cuts the cable. Disconnects happen.
