>>>Well, yes and no. It's true, as far as I know in North America, but I can't speak for the rest of the world. But that's really all this was about anyway. Somebody (Sam?) said that the leaders of the militants in Islam let others do the dirty work, and somebody else pointed out (Thomas?) that it's no different over here. The first person (Sam?) seemed to think that wasn't a valid point, and I'm arguing that it is. That's all there is to it.

>True, that's what you said. Although, with respect, I doubt they really think about it all that much. I think they pretty much see the grunts as cannon fodder. It's the old "if you want to make an omelette, you have to break some eggs" mentality - if they come home alive, all well and good. If they don't, well then that's too bad, but it's not really that big a deal.

>And that's the bottom line. The politicians send people to die, as long as those people doing the dying aren't family. The fact that they aren't actually suicide missions doesn't impress me much. And of course, some of them are suicide missions. Think Dieppe.

Alan;

When you are dead you are dead. If you are dead due to war then when the war is over what is left? Memories. Business as usual. All is forgiven and forgotten. Get on with life.

In 1965 the Sergeant said, “If you are killed in Vietnam, you WILL be shipped back in a $10 pine box”! Not long after that they began using plastic body bags. Trees could not grow fast enough for the intended purpose.

War and terrorism have one thing in common. Insanity!
