If the only reason you are doing this is to display a graph in a browser, consider using the IEGraph activex that comes with IE4. If you don't want to limit users to IE4, try using a Java graph. Many of these graphs just need parameters and will build themselves on the client machine, limiting server resource use. I have a java graph that is only 2K, downloads much faster than a reasonable GIF and looks good. It reads delimited parameters out of a file and graphs them. Let me know if you want it.
