>Talk about waiting -- you just sent me down memory lane, and not a pleasant trip. When I first started I coded in IBM assmebler language for mainframes. COBOL was but a distant dream. Twice a day a cart came around to collect your card deck(s). A day later you got back the assembly listing, printed, the weight and heft of a spare tire. If you had an assembly error you got to do it all again. Solly, come back tomorrow. Hence desk-checking your code with the fervor of a monk. My goodness, we have it so good now.

I used to go to the punch room and chat up the punch girls (it SO paid to be in their good books). WHile I was there I'd brazenly lift up the in tray of coding sheets and, with my most winning smile, pop mine on the bottom.
