I am also a former clipperhead. I still maintain a couple of apps in clipper but all the work I do is in FP/VFP. I made the move when Nantucket was bought by CA. At that time CA was promising a Windows version of Clipper (VO) which never really happened in time. VO came out and stunk.

After looking at Foxpro for Windows, I decided that it was much more productive to use it (even though the language lacked many of the Clipper constructs such as code blocks, inlining, classes and so on).

However the interactivity of FP having a command line to work from is unbeatable when doing database development. When using Clipper I had to have dBASE installed just so that I can quickly create dbfs and do test on my database. That was a pian in the neck. Also the edit/compile/link cycle was a time waster.

Now with VFP we are light years away of Clipper so it does not matter because I have everything I need most of the time. If not, there is always an OCX somewhere that does the job.
