>>>Hi All. I know I can Google for it but ... is there any forum software that works like the UT and can just be installed on a web server? I used to have one which was very similar several years ago but things change and I cannot remember anymore what it was. Must be the whole top / bottom panes concept. The other options I understand are more UT specific. Recommendations?

>IMO nothing will ever touch Compuserve with OzWin. That's not being stuck in old ways, it was just a great interface. The UT is not bad but search capability in particular is way short of what OzWin had, unless there's something I'm missing.
I tried OzWin. I tried NavCis. (and all the others)
I still came back to Tapcis over and over right to the end. It had an interface only a mother (or a long-time user) could love, but the data was text files. Very easy to search. In FP, you could MODI FILE (whatever) and press CTRL-F. It doesn't get much simpler.
I've yet to see a web-based message alternative that's usable. (Apologies to Michel and the UT group!) Click/wait is not my idea of productivity. And DON'T get me started on the MS forums. Oy! (click/wait/wait/wait/wait)
CIS is completely dead as far as I'm concerned. It's more like Click/Nap these days.
Our communities have taken a huge step backwards from the CIS days. :-(
