Sorry, Metin. I understand this less. :-)

To "draft" someone into the army is to force them, as in time of war. They are called conscripts (as they have been conscripted) or draftees.

So did you think that drafted meant "volunteer"? In the UK, people who WISH to join the army, say as a career, are called "Regular Army".

>Actually we don't call volunteer. :)

>It's only on-paper volunteer because of NATO rules. All Turkish men have to serve army for a while (nowadays 6-15 months). It's forced. They don't get money ( a few but I assume nothing).

>But some people want to work for army with salary. If you want to drafted soldier you have to give some exams and go to army school.

>All Turk men have serve army forced (volunteer) or volunteer (drafted).. :)))

>>This is intriguing. Why were volunteers discriminated against? A volunteer army has proved repatedly to be better than a consripted army. What incentive is this to volunteer? If you wait to be drafted you're treated better. It makes no sense!

>>>>A volunteer in the Turkish army at this time did not make enough money to buy a pack of cigarettes. Sergeants would beat them for any reason. Again, drafted men were not treated in this manner. Have things changed with the Turkish army. If so, how?
>>>
>>>Formerly volunteer soldiers were treated so harshly. Now only treated harshly...
>>>They can buy cigarettes now. Which case is better?.. Cigarettes kill... :)
>>
>>Again, WHY would anyone volunteer!!??????
