I had no need to format my Iomega. I just plugged it in.

>I use a Western Digital 120GB. I have enabled Windows File Sharing on the drive, but of course that won't work if my PC is shut down. Not sure about locking. I have an external power supply for mine that was included. It had it's own backup software/methodology, but I just formatted the entire drive and do what I want with it. I store my VMware files on it, and it seems to work nicely for that. I am going to hopefully be getting a NAS for my home network... would you recommend the one you have?
