Remember the discussions we had some time ago about the feminist objection to using the word "man", and the ridiculous lengths we invented to avoid it?

Well, I'm in this choir run by a choir mistress. I've just discovered her to be a lesbian and feminist. We're doing this song, "People Get Ready" (By Curtis Mayfield), only she's changed all the lyrics around, and included a line that should read: " blah blah blah .. for your fellow Man" (which isn't even in the song) but changed it to "... your fellow clan".

Despite admitting that it doesn't make complete sense (love for your clan - people you know and look after - is not the same as that for your fellow man - meaning the whole world), that it changes the meaning, that there isn't another approp. rhyming word, despite the protest and grumblings of the whole choir (predominantly fe-persons), she insists on using "clan".

I came right out and asked her "is this a WIMMIN thing?" but she's adamant (or should that be eve-ant?).
I said "should we go back and reinvent the English language?"

God give me strength!
