After practice, in the pub, a few of us discussed going along with her, till the night of the gig, when all hands will go "MAN!". Oooh! I'm SUCH a rebel! :-)

>>Remember the discussions we had some time ago about the feminist objection to using the word "man", and the ridiculous lengths we invented to avoid it?
>>
>>Well, I'm in this choir run by a choir mistress. I've just discovered her to be a lesbian and feminist. We're doing this song, "People Get Ready" (By Curtis Mayfield), only she's changed all the lyrics around, and included a line that should read: " blah blah blah .. for your fellow Man" (which isn't even in the song) but changed it to "... your fellow clan".
>>
>>Despite admitting that it doesn't make complete sense (love for your clan - people you know and look after - is not the same as that for your fellow man - meaning the whole world), that it changes the meaning, that there isn't another approp. rhyming word, despite the protest and grumblings of the whole choir (predominantly fe-persons), she insists on using "clan".
>>
>>I came right out and asked her "is this a WIMMIN thing?" but she's adamant (or should that be eve-ant?).
>>I said "should we go back and reinvent the English language?"
>>
>>God give me strength!
