In fact I have always made certain that all my procedures which change the current alias also saves and restores it. My MDI application is being used by 30 clients for 3+ years and contains 200+ forms with all kinds of controls such as textboxes, checkboxes, comboboxes, lists, treeviews, activeX controls such as the Listview, etc. This has been working fine for years. The current problem started only when I started using the Grid control instead of the List control to allow users to select records through a picklist.
The grid control is the only control which automaticly changes the current alias.
In other words, if I don't use the grid control everything is fine because nothing else in my whole 500,000 lines of code application changes the alias unexpectedly.
I would like to use the grid control because it looks better then the list control.
If I had a nice grid which does not change the alias unexpectedly all would be fine but I prefer avoiding third party controls.
I like repeating the main questions because they tend to get lost throughout the replies.
Thanks.
