Don't get me wrong - he was a communist. It's just that the society they built was a soft socialism, what with the market economy and self-management at all levels (except, of course, the things The Party decided in advance). As they called it, "socialism with a human character" (actually the last word means all of "face", "persona", "character in a play" and "image").
At least, there wasn't much in terms of FCC content regulation on TV - looking now at old movies of Žika Pavlović, Aleksandar Petrović and Dušan Makavejev, there's no way they'd be shown on any regular channel here nowadays without being severely amputated :).

...and the time is about five generations for the people to learn the tricks of political parties, and see through them, and even then it doesn't help much. They still vote for the same idiots :).
