Anti-spyware programs, anti-virus programs, Windows XP system restore, etc. There have been numerous times when our users have set their registry back to a previous date/time which did not include the settings in their registry for our app (and other apps as well that were installed since or their settings changed since the last registry backup). It was just too much of a hassle.

Sheesh... didn't even know such things were possible :). One more reason I'm not using registry.

Not that I wasn't using it - when the specs required it, why not. And when the framework was already using it, again, why not - but then this was for applications where users weren't likely to keep anything important there (mostly visual preferences - last sizes of various resizables etc) and weren't really switching machines that often.

Come to think of it, now I remember we stored the encrypted registration code... so they couldn't use it on any other machine anyway. I figure the guy who sells this is probably having no problems with this, or else I'd have heard from Rox long ago :).
