Things seem to be hooked right up because the zoom level behaves properly, but the preview container’s caption property seems to get ignored. Both the preview container and the toolbar titlebars have the same text: “Report Preview – “ and then the frx name. In fact I can’t see the caption value “My Special Report” anywhere in the preview.

I'm not sure why it doesn't work for you. Im tested code before I posted it and again and it changes the first part of the title. Try, as Colin suggested
loReportListener.PrintJobName = "My Special Report"
