But somehow you expect a Turk to explain something happening in Afghanistan? AFAIK, Turkey is a secular state for at least the last 90+ years, which is roughly four generations. Why would anyone there remember the life under the Empire?

OTOH, the current Afghani government rules the whole city of Kabul, and maybe a few miles around it, backed up by whatever aid comes from USA (just recently heard they sent some Dutch to one province there). To me it's natural that mr Bush would know much better about the situation there than Metin.
