Check out the AMP (Asterisk Management Portal) system that runs in a browser using PHP scripts. Using this sort of mechanism you could offer a "web version" distro CD that automatically converts an old desktop PC into a web server that interfaces to your app. So you can offer some (simple) screens as web forms and customers can try them out without risk. As for managing the server- if/when the web PC dies, just use the distro on another PC, or have an old PIII desktop installed and standing by ready to go.
