For sure.. Religion always has been used to conquer compassion..

A leader just shows the bible and scream "I'm here to defend the name of God!!" ..This artifice was used even before the cruzades, when they draw crosses on the shields..

This is why is very important for us (Christians), to read the bible.. To know the authenticity of facts and leaders.. To know when somebody is trying to corrupt minds..

A clear thing over the bible is "God doesn't need a defenders, lawyers, etc.." ..A clear thing over the human kind is "By a skin's lamb the wolfs love to be dressed"

When God wants to do his own laws, his simple blows over a city/people a hurricane, virus, etc.. Easy and simple like that.. Even if you like/believe or not.. I remeber, when I lived in Baton Rouge, that time, we had many people over the city creating campaign againts the night clubs of french quarter of New Orleans.. Waste of a time only.. When God decided to live a message.. what happend with N.O. every one knows.. Simple and clear.. Even if I (or your) like or not.. Not for punishment.. Only to open minds of His Grace..
