there was a thread a while back that indicated that for best performance you should move the exe to the local workstation. So your starter should check the current version and then check what the user has and if necessary move it to the local workstation before starting it.
That would alos allow you to build a new exe as required and then your starter would pick that up when the user uses your application again.
