This is a difference between two dates. So, from January 2,1998 there are 327 days before November 25 of the same year. That sounds just right.

You may try
?{^1998-12-31} - {^1998-1-1}

that gives you 364 - number of days in a year -1.

BTW, when you pass dates in this format, it's always:

Year - Month - Date and this is the format, that VFP always recognizes (non-ambigious)
