That's the ultimate reason I don't want an individual record to be selected. Touch screen applications give a whole new perspective on application design, unfortunately.

u may don't want the whole record to be selected while the user views the grid but you (I think) should want tthe particular cell to apear
selected once it was selected
when I push a button I expect it to be pushed and it doesn't matter if I use a mouse a keyboard or a finger to do that
