I don't see anything that strikes me as WRONG in what you are doing. Here's the link to a blog article I did on this. It has some code in it that I have found to be reliable in VFP apps, you might give it a test run and see if it exhibits the same HANG behavior you are seeing. Maybe there is some difference between it and what you have that might provide a clue. Worth a shot anyways...
