>The only thing I can think of that he has done that is remotely good is helping to build houses for Habitat for Humanity; and I wonder how much help he really was. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it was a photo op. He has really been off the wall with some of his comments.

>I think he should just go away quietly because he was never much of a leader. He's still torqued about Reagan coming in and getting things done, from the first day. He couldn't get the hostages released and the Iranians feared our "cowboy" enough they let them go - day 1. I know that had to frost Carter, and he seizes every opportunity to disparage the Republican party because of it.

>Oh well, he's a non factor anyway.

My parents always voted democrat until Jimmy Carter. They learned the hard way. I think Jimmy Carter began the decline of the Kennedy democratic party. It has never been the same since.

I remember reading about his presidency in the early 1980's.
By middle east standards Shah of Iran was a progressive democrat. Carter practically gift wraped Iran for Ayatollah. He actaully told Shah's top militray people not to fight back. And Ayatollah promptly executed hundereds of Shah's advisors and military leaders. Soon after, the US embassy was attacked and it's staff held hostage for over a year.

With the Shah gone, Russia soon invaded Afganistan, which probably gave rise to the Taliban regime and Saddam invaded Iran.

And don't get me started on Jimmy/Bill dealings with North Korea, which won Jimmy Carter his Nobel Peace prize... what a joke.

If you only knew who the biggest contributors are to the Carter Center in Georgia....
The American Republic will endure, until politicians realize they can bribe the people with their own money.
- Alexis de Tocqueville

No man’s life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session.
