Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't embroidery templates just simple pictures pixelated, like a knitting pattern? If so, can't you just take a pic and in practically any graphics package (Paintshop Pro, Corel Draw - whatever) apply pixelation (mosaic) to whatever resolution you wish?
