Have anyone heard about a program that can convert to embroidery format?

I've only gone as far as creating an Excel sheet (with cells sized about 8 pixels square) from a bitmap, using point() function and automation, which can then be printed to produce a scheme. I just inserted a blank row and column after each ten, so the scheme could be split into manageable chunks.

But... don't the embroidery robots (aka sewing machines) come with some software of their own?
