Always worth pointing it out - it wouldn't have been the first time that the wrong area was selected ;-)

To my way of thinking I treat views the same as cursors, apart from the fact that they may update local or remote tables.

It could be more than one table, or a SELECT from a single table.

I think the buffering applies to the cursor, not the underlying tables, and it is the updatable field list which determines which tables are updated.
