Maybe OpenOffice automation would do that better? Haven't tried to automate it myself (because I didn't need to), but the PDF it creates is, IMO, flawless.

BTW, I misread "Adobe $$$$" like "Adobe dollars"... which would, implicitly, be PDF dollars... are those worth any? I mean, to me a pdf is as good as a paper document, but somehow I don't see PDF money as a currency :).
