Not so much a stupid question as a stupid asker, or interpretation of the answer, this one:
I was once at Plimouth (sic) Plantation, in Mass. - a mock-up of the Pilgrim Fathers' village, complete with actors playing the actual colonists, with names, and keeping chronistically in character.
A jolly woman visitor went up to one of the characters and said, "Excuse me, but are you Such-and-such"
"That I am, Missus", or some such replies the actor, in his best Norfolk accent.
"Oh, great", says the visitor, "well we're your descendants!
I kid you not!
