You could put a text box and a command button on top for the RMA search and the rest of the fields below. The user would enter the RMA # and click on the search button to show the record and the cursor would be on the first field of the form. After the user save the record, the cursor is put back in the RMA text box.

They want to come into a form and enter a RMA #, which will bring up the appropriate info and they are then immediately in "edit mode", they press save and it blanks the form and waits for input of another RMA #. They said it is to much effort to hit an "edit" button. They want it designed after their existing DOS app from 1984 and don't want any changes in the keystrokes they are currently using. I couldn't talk them out of it.
