Database level is not a good place to check that. For example, it is currently considered best practice to use COM+ for distributed applications on a Windows platform. Doing this, you should have COM+ business objects start transactions with data objects using them. You can't do that if the database detects changes.
>That's an interesting problem and I'd like to hear other opinions here as well. It may be a better idea, especially in WEB based application, where changes are done through web forms and Java scripts handle problems without requiring a trip to the server.
