We recently switched over to McAfee as our company anti-virus software and VSS interaction from VFP in a word horrid. It takes anywhere from 20-40 seconds per file to join an existing project and most of our projects are well over 200 files. We've tried local exclusion by file extension for all the relevant files but it doesn't help. McAfee is configured to not read scan from the VSS server. Doing checkins/outs from the VSS interface itself is not bad, I can get latest on a tree pretty quickly so it's something in the way that VFP talks to VSS causing the problem. We had similar issues with out old Sophos AV program but turning off scan of network drives solved the slowdown.

The only thing that gets performance back up is totally disabling McAfee on my box, and unfortunately I can't convince the network admins to make that a permanent change. *g*

Has anybody else seen this problem and overcome it?
