John seems to belong to that branch of religion that picks and chooses those it deems worthy of supporting and helping.

I have never been too religious, but the last several yrs have cemented my dislike of how some can twist religion to support their own needs. The only thing I've heard in the last several yrs that at least showed a glimmer of hope was a nun who appeared on a PBS program after the last election.

She made it crystal clear that those beliefs that you mentioned were the cornerstones of her beliefs. And the others were obviously not part of her christianity.

>>>I don't agree with you about deporting illegal immigrants but that is another topic. As far as Hagel, surely you don't think he is the only Congressman who is pressured by business to go easy on illegals? This happens in every state with any significant number of them. They do the work most Americans don't want to do, and they do it cheap. The suggestion that they are taking jobs away from Americans is baloney IMO.

>>He isn't the only one, he is just one of the ones you said you like. As for illegals taking our jobs, have you seen any hispanic plumbers, carpenters, electricians etc? Those aren't jobs "we won't do".

>No, they aren't. And if I implied Hispanics are only capable of doing grunt jobs, I apologize profoundly. It's just that the battle over illegal aliens has focused on the majority who are willing to do crap jobs like picking fruit, bussing tables, and mowing lawns. That doesn't mean it's all they can do, or that it's what they did in Mexico. It just means they can make more money for themselves and their families this way. This is not unique to Hispanics. There are many new Americans who were PhD's and the like back in the old country and have jobs many levels below their capabilities here. I salute every one of them and welcome them to our country.

>You know what I don't get, John? You present yourself as a devout Christian, and I believe you are. So where is your sense of humanity? Christ himself embraced beggars, thieves, whores. Are your standards higher than his?
