It shouldn't matter how much He may have benefitted those around him, if He was illegal, He should have been put on a plane and flown home. Though, I suppose I have to agree that I don't recall His being an actual immigrant - legal or illegal. I guess He was really just passing through mostly. Kind of like a tourist or a conference attendee. Being a carpenter, on the other hand, He may well have taken a high paying job away from an honest citizen.
Don't forget he also stole a donkey (Luke 19:29-35), and if caught he might have had a police record which would make him ineligible for legal immigration.
