I hope someone else jumps in here, becasue I am not sure which would be better. Looks like they are built by the same people. You are still going to have to pay for either of them, unless your company is less then 5 people. ;-)
Maxdb sounds like it comes with more options then mysql, but mysql has been around longer and is probably more stable.
