would you not then be moving more towards a socialist model, like norway for example where doctors don't get paid much more than anyone else and exploition of workers is as low as it can get. I don't think that this more social model would work well in US to be honest, in europe it is part of our culture but not in US

>>but there are not enough people in the developed world (never liked that term) that want to do non-preferred jobs so some amount of work is going to have to be undertaken by those less skilled workers.

>My contention is that it's just a matter of money.
>Any job will suddenly become acceptable - even "preferred" - if the pay is right.
>So what we have, really, is the excuse that immigrants are necessary to fill "non-preferred" jobs when in fact the jobs are too poorly waged/benefitted for 'locals' to be able to support themselves on them.

>It's exploitation, plain and simple. Work that can go offshore to exploit workers there goes, and work that cannot go offshore uses the illegal immigrant avenue to accomplish the same end.
>
>Wouldn't it be better all around if things/services cost a little more but no one was being exploited? Illegals are ripe for full exploitation and business uses it to full measure.

>>>Not if we open the borders like people are mentioning. Despite that, if I want to do house cleaning or any other non-preferred job, that is my choice and as a citizen I shouldn't have to compete with illegals.
