>Immigration laws can be tricky. I remember when Lisa Slater (now Nicholls) first tried to get citizenship in New Zealand to be with Collin. She had a Harvard degree and was one of the world's leading authorities in her field, and they essentially told her she was without job prospects in their country. Eventually she got around it but I have no doubt the same sword of Damocles hangs over everyone seeking legal status.

O yes that's for sure. Immigration authorities can be horrible sometime.
Hire was recently one case when they deported foreign wife of (localy) famous soccer player because her pink slip was expired couple of days.
So they sent her back to London on first flight from here. After that whole hell broke loose in local news.
So she was simply *forced* to do whole another week of shopping therapy in London :))

As this might sound funny , it is actually not funny at all when they actually deport regular person like that, and that happen as well.
They are as thick as it gets.
