Do you knopw if there are any commercial activex's that would accomplish this relatively painlessly ?

Using an iframe, you can trigger a popup web browser window with the javascript:onClick event, or you can make a second web request (or web service request) from the onClick event, retrieve the grid, then manually re-arrange the exising content and insert the grid's HTML.
