FWIW, it always seemed to me that a small number of people (on both sides) were the flamethrowers. For that matter, in all my years in the Fox community, we could discuss politics, religion, buttered cats, iguanas on your chakras, and pretty much anything civilly. The big exception, confined mostly to the UT, has been discussion of the future of VFP in the last few years. But again, only a small number of people were incendiary.
