IMO, a combo is not a good interface design for selecting one item from 1000+ items. I prefer that the user make their selection by typing a partial or complete match and then I go look for what they want and offer them the matches in a list or combo. As a rule of thumb I won't put more than 50-80 items in any list or combo. Where could I get some code for this instead having to develop it, ( reinvent the wheel ).
