I can confirm it was a big problem for us in my previous job. I now know for sure that I'm never going to use filters with a grid again.
Filtered indexes worked better, but working directly with tables is not a good idea nowdays. I heard that my colleagues had to switch to views in several forms to improve performance. I wish we did it right from the beginning so our time and users time would not be wasted...
