>>>Where is all the incivility we used to have here? I haven't been called names in a couple of months? Are we becoming a "kinder and gentler" forum, or are you liberals just getting lazy!<vbg>

>>FWIW, it always seemed to me that a small number of people (on both sides) were the flamethrowers. For that matter, in all my years in the Fox community, we could discuss politics, religion, buttered cats, iguanas on your chakras, and pretty much anything civilly. The big exception, confined mostly to the UT, has been discussion of the future of VFP in the last few years. But again, only a small number of people were incendiary.

>Well, that is probably true. Speaking of that what ever happend to the irrascible old Norm on CIM?

Well, that didn't take long. I tried Norm again after posting the previous reply and Norm picked up on the second ring. He has been burning my ear ever since. Same old Norm, IOW. He did rip off one vintage rant about second hand smoke and the discrimination against smokers in this country, of whom he is still one. It turns out the business is still going, it's just that Norm's time is increasingly spent in Shanghai. He said the industry went through a wrenching dislocation offshore a few years ago and China is where the action is now. He said Shanghai makes NYC look like a cow town. If you know Norm and his view of NYC as the center of the universe, you know that's a pretty bold statement.

He is now 74. He is still with the same woman while sounding as much like a lecher as ever. He still has a strong opinion on any given topic. It was enjoyable talking to him. Norm may be a libber-AL but he is never boring.

He said he also still has his FPD 2.6 app, the one Tom Rettig wrote for him with TRO, running his business. "I must have the last production 2.6 DOS app in the world." In fact he is trying to track down Tom Rombauts, who did support work on that app for Norm until a few years ago, when Norm lost track of him. He said he has tried to find Tom using the online people finder services and has been unsuccessful so far. If anyone knows what happened to Tom since he left Redondo Beach, please let me know and I will pass it along to Norm.
