There are numerous reasons for those variations. As you know, one of them is the fact that we are loosing some VFP developers from time to time. While we have new VFP developers occasionnaly, there are most that are going away such as doing less VFP, but still doing some, with some new development, such as .NET. I also receive every year a lot of emails from retired members who confirm about their position on the Universal Thread and their PUTM. The Universal Thread has a lot more messages than before. That is also one reason. Many PUTM members are sometimes finding their answers even before a need to post. The product is also mature and this is also a big factor. It is not like .NET, which is somewhat mostly new to the majority of the developers so the seek for help will vary. Those are only a few reasons I can think of presently.

For me, the main important think as a developer is not about the numbers but if I can receive the help I need. On the Universal Thread, I find the help I need. Rarely will I have to go elsewhere to find it. I believe a lot in great knowledge around here by many MVP and others we have on board. They have provided me the help I needed to reach the actual point where I am in VFP and to learn .NET.

Even if I only see 15 developers online at 3 am in the morning on a weekend, I will post my questions and proceed with my work on to something else until I can resolve the issue. Later on, I will find the answer and will be able to go back to where I was and complete that task. Then, I can network later on on another topic and provide some support when I can do it as an appreciation to what I receive from the community and also because I like doing it.
