Just an update: it started working again, for no apparent reason. The only thing I think may have influenced it was the couple of setups I was writing in Inno setup, where the requirement was to have all the runtimes in the app directory (because of the roaming profiles - users may log in anywhere, from a machine which doesn't have the runtimes on it) and I have installed and uninstalled them regularly. These runtimes include the XML support - and it may have been unregistered at some point (though I'm sure it doesn't allow me to delete the xml*.dll files even if I uninstall, it's set so in the setup script).

Even now, I've uninstalled all of it, but the msxml3.dll and msxml3r.dll from the last one installed are still there. Could be that. And a few reboots meanwhile.

But then, one of them registers foxhhelp.exe as a COM server, and that one is uninstalled - and my VFP help still works. I'd expect it to stop working once it goes away; the default one in common files should have been unregistered and I don't expect it to be reregistered automatically.

Go figure.
